FAQ
We chose the name Chamonix based on the color of our 1976 BMW E9 - Chamonix white. We like words with “x” in them and it looks good written out. Nick is a car guy so it made sense to choose a word from a car. While our “Chamonix” comes from the color of our car, the color itself is named after the ski resort town in France.
The proper French pronunciation of Chamonix is “shaa-muh-knee.” However, we here at Chamonix are constantly seeking artistry through disruption and looking to improve upon existing standards and Americanized our pronunciation to “sham-on-nick’s.”
To us we were never choosing the word based on the French geography and it’s cooler this way because it has the word “Nick’s” in it.
So feel free to pronounce it how you want, either way people are going to know they’re dealing with payloads of intellect.
